I am thankful

As the semester draws to a close in less than a month, I am thankful for the people who had made this semester a different experience.

Ever since I was back from Oslo, I was practically wasting my life away. Living the way i was in Oslo.

Apart from skipping alot lessons, I hasn't been productive in any other areas.

Tutorials were slack, but projects were given every 2 weeks. The only time i considered work done is only for my projects. It is unlike the typical projects i did before. I detached from the usual group and formed a group with mixed clique. Well, i cannot deny that we enjoyed project times together though we seems to spend more time meeting for projects as compared to other group. There is more creative juices involved as well. The effect was great. I learnt quite alot of things in the process and i enjoyed the fun we had. Thanks for making this team a memorable one. Down with 3, left with 1 more to go. I wonder what would the effects be liked. Can't wait to expect it in 2 weeks again. Thereafter, we will part ways and it would be unlikely that we will become a team again as we return to our own groups of friends next year.

Nevertheless, thanks again.

Outside project time, i have been taking external lessons out there. I enjoyed salsa tremendously. Though i still feel so screwed up during lessons. Haha. But really fun actually. Thanks for those who joined the class with me. At least we can talk about it at times, especially when there is not much of a common topic we had together. 2 more lessons to go before the module ends. Not too sure if they remains or they will choose to leave.

As for II, though there isn't any calls or updated list yet, I m still holding on small hopes that either of the company i had chosen would grant me an interview. I m still holding on. If not, i had decided what i should do for the next phase.

Mug mode on for the next 1.5 mth! Let's work hard all together, especially those who would be graduating this semester!

The power of language

It is just how amazing what languages can do.

If i had only known a language, would be be able to express myself better?

Somehow, i felt that a mixture of various languages in a conversation would express me better, using words which i can't thought of in the official language - English.

Though schools, government are urging us to speak proper english or proper mandarin, it seems hard to express the things you want to say easily. For example, a word u say in english can express a chinese idiom. Or sometimes a mixture of hokkien would express something which you cant express in english or chinese simply. Saying so, I am guilty of mixing my languages during conversations to express myself better. But i do maintain some professionalism as i taught my student(s), in the present or past. It does apply to my oral presentations as well as i try to avoid improper languages - Singlish. But is it really improper?

For example, the japanese language uses hiragana to express their basic characters and katakana for foreign items/objects/name etc. But they sound the same. Purpose so is to differentiate what is foreign and what is japanese. (Can't say much as i am still discovering the power of japanese language.)

Though dialects may sounds rather vulgar at times, the meaning when translated to English, chinese etc , Is actually a comment of concern, yet when u heard it, it sounds so vulgar. Something unique.

Saying so much about language, i wonder how would i be able to converse in a single language during a conversation or i am still mixing alot of the various language in my conversation?

Just hope monday to end faster and i would have more time!

Good Friends? Bad Friends?

"Eh, you are very silly/ dumb/ stupid you know?" I heard this from a good friend.

A good friend would nevertheless support, encourage you despite them knowing the difficulties you may faced.

One great example was when I had to decide my internship applications for the first phase. When I was like giving up on my choices of my application due to the fact of extreme competition that I would face but they still encourage me to choose what I wanted, at the very least, I had tried my best, leaving no regrets despite the results. For me to think so, perhaps due to me having lack of confidence. But again, if I never try, I wouldn't know. At the very least, just something simple like that would be able to boost my confidence. This comes from people who would compete for the same company but at least, they did not try to "get rid" of you to reduce competition.

So in your own dictionary, how would you define a good friend?
